About the exhibition:

With the reopening of the Vienna Museum on Karlsplatz, the MUSA regains its original dedication as an exhibition space for contemporary art and starts with the 2000s as a continuation of the successful decade series from the collection.

BYE-BYE ZUVERSICHT (Bye-bye confidence) - the first decade of the new century: The feeling of a new beginning after happily surviving the millennium leap was abruptly ended on September 11, 2001, with the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Artists discussed topics such as migration, the convergence of aesthetics and economics, collective memory and alienated nature. The observation of one's own body and the burgeoning selfie cult thanks to the new smartphones were also frequently discussed and nameless city situations were documented as non-places with the camera. Painting was able to assert itself and celebrated a continuation in diversity.
